Is this related to May 20th as a special day of the year?
"Vesak Bhakthi Geetha are songs dedicated to the Buddha specially sung during the month of May. They are also called singing devotional songs about the Buddha to celebrate the birth enlightenment and passing away of the Buddha. This tradition of singing devotional songs has evolved from christian carols for few decades in Sri Lanka. It is very important to understand the meaning of "" Vesak Bhakthi Geeth"". 'Vesak' means the month of May according to lunar calender. 'Bhakthi' implies the confidence or faith of the Buddha. The word 'Geetha' is a Sinhala word for songs. Dansala is combination of two words Dan+sala. ""Dan"" has few meanings. here it means mainly the prepared or cooked foods. in other cases it can mean practicing generosity as well. 'Sala' is the hall where the cooked food are placed or distributed. in the regard Dansala or Danasala means the place where the specially prepared foods are offered to those who come from every directions in free of charge. During the Vesak season many people travel from temple to temple visiting and respecting the Buddha. some people get together and organized food giving events like Dansala as a help to pilgrims and also act of merits. because people learn from the stories of the Buddha's previous lives giving up of material things is as a prominent entrance to enlightenment. so some friends of the center for inner peace the Hilda Jayewardenaramaya Buddhist monastery and meditation center also following the ancient path of saints organized a free food giving for all those who participated in to devotional singing. Another significance feature in Vesak season is making up lanterns and hanging them in sacred places. lanterns are made to respect the Buddha by lighting the candles in them so the flame of candles or in modern world the bulbs in different colors bring calm and serene situation in minds. it helps a lot to calm down the mind and with smooth light of the Moon on the fill moon day of May illuminate life of many. It is true that the profound teaching of the Buddha is difficult to understand by practicing rituals in this form. However this type of practice supports for many people to encourage themselves and explore something deep with the confidence of the Buddha. May 20th 2012 was received to officially celebrate these importance events. this day won't be the date for next year celebration. "

Do not be angry to protect me
Monks, if others speak in disparagement of me, of the Dhamma or of the Sangha, you should not be angry, resentful or upset on that account. If you were to be angry or displeased at such disparagement, that would only be a hindrance to you.
If others disparage me, the Dhamma or the Sangha, then you must explain what is incorrect as being incorrect", saying: ‘That is incorrect, that is false, that is not our way, that is not found among us.’
Monks, if others speak in praise of me, of the Dhamma or of the Sangha, you should not on that account be pleased, happy or elated. If you were to be pleased, happy or elated at such praise, that would only be a hindrance to you." If others praise me, the Dhamma or the Sangha, you should acknowledge the truth of what is true, saying: ‘That is correct, that is right, that is our way, that is found among us’.
